Covid19 Seminar- Mental health, recognising and supporting need
Living through the Covid19 pandemic, many people of all ages may have experienced new or elevated levels of stress or anxiety. Plans to identify and support people’s needs include, Department of Health’s recently launched Mental Health Action Plan, within it a Response Plan outlines key areas of intervention during the pandemic to help and support the population as a whole.
It is estimated, that over 110 million people in the WHO European Region are living with mental health conditions. This number is expected to rise substantially over the coming months and years following the Covid19 pandemic. In response WHO Europe will establish a mental health coalition to support system reforms and Covid19 recovery.
This week we heard from experts from Belfast, Udine and Newcastle on their response to the pandemic and how they have worked to address mental wellbeing issues.
