The Learning from Belfast – Creating healthy places seminar shared learning from Belfast’s response during the Covid-19 pandemic and the design of our streets to support people to remain active and healthy. 

The Lord Mayor has helped Belfast Healthy Cities, the World Health Organization initiative in Northern Ireland, to launch the 2020 Healthy Cities Awards with a new range of categories which reflect the current priorities of the WHO Healthy Cities programme. Now in their eighth year, the awards recognise the work undertaken by organisations across Belfast to improve the health and wellbeing of our citizens.

In the latest of the Belfast Healthy Cities COVID-19 seminars, we looked at City Reset & Recovery, where experts from the Netherlands, England and Belfast spoke about the response to the pandemic and how better health outcomes can be a goal. 

Belfast Healthy Cities, the World Health Organization representative in Belfast, has welcomed the new campaign by the Department for Infrastructure to encourage people to walk more.
