Applications are open to become a Belfast Healthy Cities Board Member

Belfast Healthy Cities is seeking to recruit new members to our Board from people with an interest in on one of the themes of People; Place; Participation; Planet; Peace; Prosperity; irrespective of background, age or personal circumstances or in governance and financial matters.  We wish to reflect the diversity of the community we serve in Northern Ireland. 

The city of Belfast was successfully designated to Phase VII (2020 - 2026) of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) European Healthy Cities Network.  Belfast has been a leading member of the WHO Network since its inception in 1988 and held the WHO Secretariat for the Network from 2008 - 2018.  Belfast Healthy Cities is a Limited Company and registered charity and using a partnership approach works with stakeholders from government departments, universities, the private, public, voluntary and community sectors to deliver the WHO core themes within the local and regional context. 

Directors are responsible for the overall governance of the organization. They must ensure that it operates in a manner which enables it to fulfil the objectives set out in the Memorandum and Articles of Association; that due attention is paid to charitable and company law; that it considers the strategies and aspirations of Company members and stakeholders and that it upholds the reputation of Belfast Healthy Cities.

The Board meets bi monthly and successful applicants may be expected to contribute at a Sub-Committee level.  All positions are voluntary and are therefore unpaid but travel expenses can be available to attend meetings. 

Belfast Healthy Cities is a Limited Company and registered charity.
